Over the past day, Islamists of illegal gangs, detachments of which are stationed in the western part of the region, continued to provoke armed clashes on the line of contact with government forces, firing on the Al-Wahdi settlement south of Aleppo. Under the blows of the militants at least 12 local residents were killed, another 15 people, most of whom are now in serious condition, were injured.
Armed clashes between Kurds and pro-Turkish forces in the north of the province were again noted. According to the Syrian Center for Human Rights Monitoring (SOHR), the clashes were initiated by the Islamists of the “Syrian Free Army” (SSA), supported by the Turkish armed forces, who opened fire on the Tel Rifat area. Kurdish radicals, in turn, announced the murder of two SSA militants near the city of Azaz.
Province of Deir ez-Zor.
On the eve, unknown attacks continued in the control zone of the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF). According to the Twitter-channel (DeirEzzor24), a group of armed men fired at a Kurdish car near the Breikh settlement, which resulted in the injury of several members of the Kurdish group. Later, the SDF military headquarters in Al-Muhaymidah was attacked twice. The results of armed clashes in the area are still unknown. It is assumed that the jihadists of the “sleeping cells” of the “Islamic state” are related to both raids.
In turn, the Kurds again resorted to raids. So, the same Twitter-channel announced the illegal arrest of several civilians in the settlement of Khawaij Al-Fassiya on charges of collaborating with ISIS terrorists. Later, some more suspected of having links with ISIS1 were detained in the settlements of Diban and At-Tayan. Nevertheless, local activists believe that among those who are in custody are mostly innocent civilians.
In the territories occupied by “democratic forces”, fires were again observed. A fire was reported in the village of At-Tvatiha in the eastern part of the region. No data on the consequences of the incident has yet been reported.
In the south of Idlib, mutual shelling between government forces and militants of illegal gangs continued throughout the day. According to the news portal Masar Press Agency, under the fire of jihadists was the city of Al-Casabia, recently passed under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). In turn, the SAA servicemen attacked the fortifications of the Islamists in the vicinity of Sheikh Mustafa and Kafr Sadzhna. There were also shootouts near the cities of Tramla and Arinba. By evening, the SAR forces opened fire on the militant strongholds in the west of the region near the border with Latakia.
There were reports of an explosion in the city of Sarmada in the northern part of the province. According to the Internet portal Step News Agency, the detonation of a bomb led to the death of one of the civilians. Another person was injured. The organization of the explosion suspected militants “Islamic State”, carrying out underground activities in the province.
It became known that in the course of the ongoing investigation of the territories of Eastern Syria, previously cleared from the ISIS militants, the engineering units of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) managed to find two large caches of terrorists. According to SANA News, the caches of more than 12,000 mines and IEDs were located in the south of Raqqa and southeast of Deir ez-Zor. As is known, due to the excessively large number of explosive devices left by jihadists before the retreat, work on their search continues to this day, despite the fact that these territories were completely under the control of the SAR forces by the end of 2017.
In the afternoon, there were reports of a jihadist outing in the southern part of the province. The correspondent of the Federal News Agency (FAN) reported that 17 terrorists attacked farmers in the vicinity of the Tel Arida settlement, as a result of which seven people were killed. Within half an hour, government forces arrived at the scene of the tragedy, but the radicals managed to escape before. It was noted that the militants probably moved to the control zone of the SAA, moving from the territories occupied by the Kurds.
Province of As-Suwaida.
In the morning, a militant group of an unknown group was spotted in the province of As-Suwaida. According to the Internet portal Halab Today TV, employees of the internal security forces clashed with jihadists on the outskirts of the administrative center of the region, which resulted in the flight of the attackers. It is assumed that the radicals arrived on the territory liberated by government troops from the area of the American military base At-Tanf, located in the southern part of the province of Homs.
Province of Hasakah.
In the province of Hasakah, the underground activities of Islamic State militants continued on the eve. The militants launched a second sortie in the area of Al-Khol camp, activating the IED under the “Democratic Forces of Syria” (SDF) car. The blast killed four members of the SDF. In the evening, another explosion occurred in the town of Kamyshly in the north of the region. IED, which was laid in one of the cars parked in the Kaddur-bek area, led to civilian casualties.
