SAA fought off a massive counterattack by Tahrir al-Sham in Idlib, the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed the leader of Khurras al-Din, the SDF refused to protect the residents of Raqqa from organ thieves. This was reported by a military source of the Federal News Agency (FAN) in Syria Ahmad Marzouq.
Briefly about the results of the confrontation:
Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Allied Forces: continued to strike at militants in Idlib.
Russian Aerospace Forces: attacked terrorist fortifications in the north of Latakia, allegedly destroyed the leader of the Khurras ad-Din in Idlib.
Syrian Free Army (SSA): announced the sending of Tahrir al-Sham reinforcements to Idlib and Hama, opposed the Kurds in northern Aleppo.
“Khayyat Tahrir al-Sham”: opposed the SAA in Idlib, captured the pilot of the downed Su-22 Syrian Air Force, repelled the SAA attack in Latakia.
Kurds: continued to attack the pro-Turkish SSA groups in Aleppo.
Airplanes and helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces inflicted new attacks on the reinforced positions of militants in the area of the city of Kabana in the northern province of Latakia, a news source on Twitter (@Step_Agency) reports. Despite the efforts of the SAA, the mountainous part of Latakia remains impregnable, it is kept by militants of the Islamic Party of Turkestan banned in Russia.
The commander of the pro-Turkish Syrian National Army (Turkey’s loyal SSA groups) operating in Afghanistan and northern Aleppo, announced that it is sending reinforcements to help the terrorists Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Jebhat al-Wataniya lil Tahrir in Idlib and Hama. Abu Hatim Shakra said that this will be the third replenishment for militants operating in the Idlib de-escalation zone. SSA sends reinforcements to Idlib in the hope of stopping the advance of the SAA in the Khan Sheikhun area.
In Idlib province, fierce battles continue in the area of the city of Khan Sheikhun, held by the terrorists of Khayyat Tahrir al-Sham (a coalition of groups controlled by militants of the banned in the Russian Federation Jebhat al-Nusra1) and allied groups. Despite the fact that after yesterday’s breakthrough of the SAA, the terrorists were able to deliver several sensitive retaliatory strikes, the offensive of government forces continues, the army liberated several settlements.
Combat aircraft – the Syrian Air Force and the Russian Air Force – continues to strike at militant positions. Reported on the air strikes on terrorist positions in the areas of At-Taman and Tell-Rai in southern Idlib. With the support of aviation, government forces managed the villages of Madaya and Abdin, knocking out terrorists from there.
During the clashes between the SAA and terrorist groups in the south of Idlib province, a large number of militants from the Khurras al-Din group known as Al Qaeda1 in Syria (the international terrorist network Al Qaeda is banned in the Russian Federation) were destroyed. According to an official news source on Twitter (@SyriawatanNews), among others, a famous terrorist named Abd al-Karim al-Shami was destroyed. According to an analytical source (@jamlyyyyy), Abd al-Karim al-Shami and two other important terrorist leaders were destroyed during an air strike by the Russian Air Force on terrorist positions in the area of the city of Marat-Khurma.
Also, more accurate data became known about the fate of the Syrian Air Force pilot Su-22, shot down the day before in the region of As-Sukeik. The first Tahrir al-Sham reports about the capture of the pilot turned out to be premature – according to the source (@ XXVII27_), the Su-22 pilot was able to contact the SAA and was assigned a meeting point with the Allied forces. However, later luck changed him, the same source reports, and the pilot was captured by terrorists in a grove near the village of At-Taman. A Twitter source (@Ibra_Joudeh) reports that a pilot named Muhammad Suleiman is alive and well, the Tahrir al-Sham terrorists hope to save his life and exchange him for militants captured by SAA.
Meanwhile, in the north of Idlib, in the vicinity of the cities of Ad-Dan and Sarmad, a powerful explosion occurred. According to a Twitter source (@ nm79797979), a weapons and ammunition depot belonging to the Tahrir al-Sham militants and located in a large market between Ad-Dana and Sarmada exploded. Step News notes that almost exactly a year ago, on August 12, 2018, an arms depot exploded in Sarmada, destroying a five-story apartment building along with residents. This time, it is reported that “there are relatively few victims.” The causes of the explosion are not disclosed.
An unstable situation in the field of public safety persists in the province of Rakka, most of which is controlled by the pro-American coalition “Democratic Forces of Syria” (SDF). Residents of the village of Al Amiriya in the west of the province found on the outskirts of the village the bodies of two middle-aged women.
According to Baladi News, some internal organs were stolen from women – probably for sale on the black market.
According to the source, local residents and tribal elders asked the SDF to protect them, since the situation in Amiriya was not the first case of the discovery of the bodies of abducted people with organs extracted. The Kurdish command refused, saying that the residents themselves must protect their loved ones – however, all the weapons from the local residents were confiscated by Kurdish forces.
Currently, jihadists and their supporters from the civilian population are hastily evacuating from Al Latamina and Murek, who will end up in the “cauldron” if the SAA enters Khan Sheikhun and cuts off the M5 highway connecting these areas with the central part of Idlib.
At the same time, the first detachments of Ahrar al-Sham militants (part of the SSA) arrived in Hama province to help Tahrir al-Sham terrorists withstand the attack of the SAA, the Turkish news channel on Twitter (@HalasMedya) reported.
The source names all the groups that intend to send reinforcements to Hama and Idlib: these are the Turkish Liva Muntasir Billah, Liva Samarkand, Firkat al-Hamza, Liva Sultan Murad, noted for countless crimes against the Kurdish population in occupied Africa, and Fileak al-Sham. The forces of many of these groups are already present in the Idlib de-escalation zone, but this did not help the Tahrir al-Sham terrorists keep the line of defense in southern Idlib.
Mazlum Abdi, commander of the pro-American Kurdish coalition Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said Syrian Kurds are not “aloof” from the decision-making process on the “security zone” planned by Turkey and the US in northern Syria. According to Abdi, the Kurds are conducting “indirect negotiations” with Turkey in order to ensure the safety of residents of border areas who will be within the “security zone”.
